Two short videos to get the most out of your Smart Fork: how to set your own eating pace, and how to avoid false detections at the table.

Tutorial 01

Alarm adjustment

Your fork ships with a 10-second interval between bites. You can set any interval you like, directly on the fork — no app, no tools.

Before you start. Hold the fork by its stainless steel head with one hand and keep that contact throughout the whole sequence. If your hands are very dry, moisten them lightly with water first — it helps the detection circuit read your touch.

  1. Hold the forkTake the fork in one hand, fingers on the stainless steel part. Do not let go until the setting is confirmed.
  2. Tap 6 times, quicklyWith a finger of your other hand, tap the stainless steel head six times in rapid succession, at the rhythm shown in the video.
  3. Wait for the red lightA steady red light means the setting mode is active and the fork is ready to record your new interval.
  4. Press and hold to countKeep your finger pressed on the stainless steel. The light flashes red while you count: 2 red flashes = 1 second. Release when you reach the interval you want.
  5. Check the confirmationThe fork flashes back the number of seconds you selected. Your new interval is saved — it stays in memory even after the fork is switched off.

If the confirmation double flash doesn't appear

  • Check that your first hand stayed in contact with the stainless steel handle the whole time, without letting go.
  • Check that you tapped six times in rapid succession, at the rhythm of the video.
  • If your hands are dry, run them under water and dry them lightly before programming — this improves contact with the detection circuit.
Tutorial 02

Avoid false detections

The Smart Fork detects a bite through the electrical contact between your hand, the fork and your mouth. A few habits at the table can trigger a detection that isn't a real bite — here are the five most common ones.

01

Don't touch the stainless steel head

Hold the fork by its black handle only. Touching the metal head with your fingers while you eat is read as a bite.

02

Use the matching knife

An ordinary metal knife touching the fork closes the circuit and creates a detection. Use the knife designed to go with the Smart Fork.

03

Watch your plate and your posture

A metal plate, a very thin container, or a plate resting on your knees can carry the contact. Eat at a table, on a standard plate.

04

Mind the bread

Holding a piece of bread in your other hand while the fork touches it can trigger a detection. Put the bread down between bites.

05

Insulate your plate

A placemat or a cloth under the plate isolates it from the table and removes most residual false detections.
